Age

The rules around donating depend on whether you have ever donated before.

Under 17 years of age

You can become a donor as soon as you reach your 17th birthday.

Aged between 17 and 66 years of age

You can start giving blood anytime up to and including your 66th birthday.

Aged between 66 and 72 years of age

If you have given at least one complete blood donation before, even if it was some time ago or outside of Wales, you can donate up until your 72nd birthday.

Over 72 years of age

There is no upper age limit for giving blood, after your 72nd birthday providing you are in good health, and you have successfully donated within the last two years.
